The CEREC® Dental Crown Difference

Traditional dental crown placement requires multiple visits; one to take an impression of the tooth to send to a dental lab, and the other to place the permanent crown after it’s complete. CEREC® crowns eliminate the need for waiting, messy impressions, and temporary restorations.

The CEREC® technology utilizes an infrared camera that takes 3D images of your damaged tooth, sending them directly to our milling machine. It will fabricate your crown right there in our office, allowing us to complete your procedure the same day.

What are the Benefits?

  • Time Efficiency: CEREC® eliminates the need for multiple appointments and temporary crowns, allowing you to receive your custom crown in one visit.
  • Enhanced Comfort: Digital scanning technology ensures a more comfortable and precise fit without the need for messy impressions.
  • Natural Appearance: CEREC® crowns are custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth, providing a seamless and aesthetically pleasing result.
  • Durability: CEREC® crowns are crafted from high-quality ceramic material, known for its strength and durability, ensuring long-lasting restorations.
  • Preservation of Healthy Tooth Structure: CEREC® crowns require minimal removal of healthy tooth structure, helping to preserve the integrity of your natural teeth.
  • No Temporary Crowns: With CEREC®, you won't have to wear temporary crowns, avoiding any potential discomfort or inconvenience.

Our priority is to keep you informed, every step of the way. Here are a few questions that our patients frequently ask.

What are same-day crowns?

Same-day crowns are a revolutionary dental treatment that allows patients to receive a custom-made, high-quality dental crown in just a single visit to the dentist. Traditionally, getting a dental crown would involve multiple visits to the dentist, a temporary crown, and a waiting period of a week or more for the permanent crown to be made in a dental lab.

With same-day crowns, advanced CEREC technology is used to design, fabricate and place the crown in just one appointment. This means less time in the dental chair, no need for a temporary crown, and immediate relief from your dental issue.

How are same-day crowns made?

Same-day crowns are made using state-of-the-art CEREC technology. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. During your appointment, Dr. Jonathan Zsambeky will first prepare your tooth for the crown. Then, a digital impression of your tooth will be taken using a special camera.

This digital image is then used to create a 3D model of your tooth on a computer. Using this model, the CEREC machine will then mill your custom crown from a block of high-quality ceramic, matching the color to your surrounding teeth for a natural look. Once the crown is ready, it is bonded to your tooth. The whole process takes just a few hours.

What are the benefits of same-day crowns?

Same-day crowns offer numerous benefits over traditional crowns. First, they save you time. You don't need to schedule multiple appointments or take time off work to visit the dentist multiple times.

Second, you get immediate results. There's no waiting period or temporary crown – you walk out of the office with your permanent crown in place. Third, the process is more comfortable. There's no need for messy dental impressions, and the digital process used to create the crown is precise, reducing the chance of fit issues or adjustments later on. Lastly, same-day crowns are made from high-quality ceramic, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution for damaged or decayed teeth.

Can same-day crowns be used for any tooth?

Same-day crowns are versatile and can be used for a variety of dental issues. However, their suitability depends on your individual case. They are commonly employed for damaged or decayed teeth, offering a quick and effective solution. Your dentist will assess your specific situation to determine if same-day crowns are the right option for you.

Are there any restrictions after getting a same-day crown?

While you can generally resume normal activities and eating habits after the procedure, it's advisable to avoid extremely hard or sticky foods initially. Your dentist will provide specific post-care instructions to ensure the longevity of your crown.
